Kepis are the French inspired caps often worn by men and officers on both sides of the American civil war. Many Southern troops wore Kepis to war but these were gradually replaced by slouch hats, which became the fashion. As the war progressed, many styles of hats appeared on both sides as they were taken from the enemy.
This Keyring kepi is a copy of a braided officer's Kepi with metallic braid in the crown and sides.
